I've worked in editorial since 1995. I started my career working on consumer magazines as a journalist and editor, then freelancing for several years as a content writer and editor, and most recently as a self-employed copyeditor and proofreader for book publishers.

I'm an intermediate member of the CIEP (Chartered Institute of Editors and Proofreaders) and follow its code of practice.

I have experience in:

• copyediting and proofreading non-fiction illustrated lifestyle books
• writing and editing food and drink content and recipe editing for magazines, websites and brands (product packaging, etc.)
• proofreading for businesses and organisations; editing marketing materials, documents and reports.

I graduated with a BA in Politics and International Relations from the University of Reading, and have always had a keen interest in current affairs. 

Food and cookery is a huge passion of mine and a big part of my life, whether that's trying new recipes at home or eating out with friends and family. I've got a Foundation Certificate in Practical Cookery from Leiths School of Food and Wine which I took as a sabbatical from my job at the time as an editor of a food and drink website. If I hadn't loved my job in editorial so much I would have definitely looked hard at the famous Leiths' jobs board: Personal chef to a family on a private yacht setting sail to the Caymans in three weeks' time. Sigh. Maybe in my next life!

I also love anything crafty; my current obsession is crochet, and I run a knitting and crochet group in my local village. I recently qualified as a crochet technical editor and am slowly building on my knowledge and experience so I can offer tech editing to craft publishers very soon. If I'm not reading or editing then you'll probably find me on the Peloton (something has to help me work off the food obsession), paddleboarding with my family or walking our border terrier Digby around the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside where we live.
